I walked with Jesus. I talked to Him, I read about Him, I met with Him regularly. He spoke to me with loving kindness and comfort. My heart was smiling. I don’t know how it happened but I felt like I was walking on air—in the thin air. I felt so light and free. I felt like I was alive. I’d forgotten about the troubles in my life like they were a distant dream. I looked down and I was walking on the sea! What!? This is too cool! So I looked over to my friends. They looked so amazed – their hands were on the edge of the boat and their eyes were wide open. They were perplexed and in awe of me. I felt amazing and I smiled at them in pride. I felt like dancing. Like flying. I was so happy and proud. I felt free to do what I wanted. Let me bust some moves here on water I thought—show off a bit.

Suddenly a gush of wind blew hard on my right side. It was as if the wind whispered ‘you’re amazing; everyone looks up in awe at you. Jesus will always be near you but, now it’s time to shine’ I agreed with the voice of the wind. It was real and powerful. I felt a rush of this emotion and I stumbled a bit. But that was ok. I looked to check and I was still standing on water. Fewf! Bang. Another gust of wind – this time from the other side. It was as if a voice was in this rushing wind too screaming this time ‘hahhahahha’ it echoed ‘you foooollllll you thought you were amazing look how you’re sinkiiiiiiiiingggggg’. I was sinking, dying, falling, failing, rapidly, uncontrollably, I must…….. ‘Lord Jesus, save me!’ I yelled from the bottom of my heart. I don’t know where it came from. I guess my soul knows that Jesus Christ is the only one who saves. Without any delay, I was caught by the mighty hand of God Himself. What grace and kindness He looked at me with and said ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?’. I cried in shame and thankfulness, wondering where I went wrong…

Matthew 14:24-31

“But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
